What is your driving force?
John 4: 31-34
Meanwhile his disciples urged him, “Rabbi, eat something.”
32 But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.”
33 Then his disciples said to each other, “Could someone have brought him food?”
34 “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.
As we go through life we most often seek some type of motivation that allows us to do what we do. This motivation can be in the form of money, prestige, family or friends approval or other external forces. While these motivating factors can be used, they are often short term motivators. External motivators only work as good as those who use them . An example if money is the motivator, then as soon as one receives a pay raise, then they are seeking another and this may not be practical given the salary constraints of most jobs. Psychologist have determined that the best long term motivators are those that are internal and tied to our values. One does a good job and comes to work on time, just because one believes that it is the right thing to do. No external motivation is necessary.
Thought for the Day: Christ understood his motivating factor.. What is yours?
