VENGEANCE IS MINE SAYS THE LORD(DEUTERONOMY32:35)

2 SAMUEL 13:23-38

SUMMARY

Absalom was one of king David’s sons, he wanted to take revenge on his half

Brother Amnon for raping his sister Tamar.

He was deeply offended by what Amnon did to his sister.

Two years later, he ask king David to grant him permission

To invite all his other brothers to a banquet he had prepared for them.

All of them were present including Amnon, he then instructed his guard to

Kill Amnon which they did and he had his revenge.

LESSONS

Here we see how the quest for revenge consume Absalom

Even at the extent of destroying the relationship with his father the king

Because he was later banished from his own kingdom.

Taking revenge on someone that has done you wrong can

never truly give you the satisfaction you need so allow God to

revenge on your behalf.

Romans12:19

Your quest for revenge can dethrone you, from a prince to a commoner

Absalom got his revenge but he ended up being a common in another

Land even though his father was a powerful king.

GOD sees our pain whenever we are taken advantage of, just because he

has not reacted the time we wanted him to doesn’t mean he cares less.

He is a good father let us trust him in through our pain. Because he knows

all things and he always knows the right time to come him.

WHY DID GOD ALLOW BAD THINGS TO SOMETIMES HAPPEN TO CHRISTIANS?

ACTS 12 VS 1-18

SUMMARY(verses1-3)

KING Herod arrested some who belonged to the church,

Intending to persecute them. He had James the brother

of John  put to death with the sword.

When he saw that this met with approval among the Jews,

He proceeded to seize Peter also.

In this story if you continue reading the entire chapter,

You will find out that when the church heard that Peter

had also been arrested they all came together to make intersession for

Him and God heard their prayers and rescued Peter.

But in the case of JAMES he was killed without any intervention

From God.

Most often when bad things happen people often say it is the will of

God. But that is not true.

It was not the will of God for James to be killed, but because the

Church was not wise enough to make intersession for him just like they

did for Peter he was killed and it was not God’s fault.

They devil is always seeking for whom he may devour and GOD is also

Looking for vessels that will yield themselves to him in order to frustrate the

evil plans of the devil on earth.

LESSONS

It is our responsibility as believers to make sure we always align with

The spirit of God and be obedient to his voice, because this will

save us from Satan’s devices against us.

We must always make intersession for other people around us,

You never can tell but your simple obedience to pray for someone

can be the reason why that person is alive.

When bad things happen to Christians it is not because it was God’s

fault but because there is always a lack of understanding on our path

with regards to something.

Sometimes God allow bad things to happen to us in other

to test our faith as in the case of Job.

Sometimes he also allows bad things to happen to us

In other for us to be able to use our pain and help others

who have gone through similar experiences

STOP YOUR COMPLAINING

NUMBERS 11:4-35

SUMMARY

The children of Israel and some foreigners were complaining about

Wanting to eat meat

11vs5 In Egypt we use to eat all the meat we want and it cost us nothing.

They complained till Moses became fed up with their wining against the lord.

The lord finally gave them meat but send them an epidemic to punish for what

they have done. There by killing a large number of them.

LESSON FROM THIS STORY

*We can see from this scripture that GOD hates complain, because it shows

how ungrateful you are towards him. Even though he is always going out of

his way just to please you.

*Most times the reason why we complain is because we have not truly

understood who God really is. (Hebrews11:6)

*Even though our God is merciful, if he sees that you are bent on having

it your way then he will step back and allow you have it your way.

He has given you a will and he can never interfere with your will.

Let us not be among those Christian that murmurs at a every little thing. Even though

The temptation may arise, let us resist it by choosing not to complain but fixing our

Eyes on Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith.

HOW TO OVERCOME CYCLES OF ADDICTIONS IN OUR LIFE

 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

King James Version

3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

WHAT IS AN ADDICTION?

the fact or condition of being addicted to a particular substance or activity.

In biblical sense we can also relate it as a stronghold.

*A stronghold is any habit in your life that exalted itself against the knowledge of Christ in your life, there by making it difficult to break such habit.

IN our generation majority of spirit filled, tongue talking Christians are struggling with various addictions and one of the most common are pornography, fornication , alcoholism etc .

Most of these people feel so helpless because they feel no one will under stand them if they speak out. Which is one of the biggest deception of the devil. Proverb 28 vs 13( he that covereth his sins shall not prosper.)

ways to overcome cycle of addition

*Genuinely repent and ask the lord for forgiveness(1 John 1:9 KJV)

*you need to make yourself accountable to someone

you trust and know will help you through it and also back you up in prayers.

*Be mindful of what you are eating, because you reflect what you eat.

In other words, feed you spirit with word of GOD on a daily basis and meditate

On God’s word.(Proverbs 4:23)

*spend time during the day to pray

*choose a day in the week to fast, because fasting put our flesh under subjection

   to the spirit.

*Get rid of every triggers and stay away from any place, activities that give those triggers.

*Believe in God’s unfailing love for you and know that whenever you fall back you are not

condemn but loved and more grace has been given unto you to try again.(1 Corinthians 13:7), (Exodus 34:6)

B E CAREFUL OF BAD COUNSEL, IT CAN DESTROY YOU!

SCRIPTURE:2 SAMUEL 10VS1-14

In summary of this scripture, one of King David’s loyal friends

King Nahash of Ammon had died and his son Hanun had become king.

King David wanted to show his loyal friendship to Hanun as his father

Nahash did to him. So, he sent some messengers to express his sympathy.

When they arrived, the Ammonite leaders said to the king,

“Do you think that it is your father’s honor that David has sent these

men to express sympathy to you? Of course not! He has sent them here

as spies, so that he can conquer us!”

HANUN seized David’s messengers, shaved off one side of their beards,

Cut off their clothes at the hips, and sent them away. Because of what

he did he made King David his enemy, which later lead to war in which

he was obviously defeated.

LESSONS LEARNT FROM THIS STORY

*No matter how good your intentions are, someone

is always going to misjudge you. So be strong and be

courageous. God who sees you heart will reward you.

And whatever adversity comes your way he will fight for you

Just as he did for King David.

*Be careful who and what you listen to!

Because king Hanun listened to the wrong counsel

he ended up developing offense against the wrong

person who truly meant well and he there by destroyed

a very good relationship that would have continued

between him and King David.

*Don’t be quick to pass judgement on another person

Especially when you don’t know the full story.

King Hanun became offended because he thought

he was being deceived by king David. But king David

On the other hand, truly meant well.

*Show more compassion unto others

Someone might speak rudely to you or say something

That offends you. Instead of fighting back, slow down and

ask yourself what this person might really be going through.

It might be they answered that way because of pressure at work,

Or even because of whatever they might be going through at

that moment.

Always look for a way to represent Christ. Especially in times when you

Feel like you have been wrong by someone. Be kind and show compassion

To them. You never know, this might even win them over to Christ.
