Talk is cheap
As the saying goes, action speaks louder than words. It is so easy to say you will do something before the cost of taking that action is right in front of you. Our actions are a reflection of the driving forces within. Sometimes we don’t know the real driving force until that moment we have to make a decision. As a husband and father I would like to believe I will do anything and everything to protect my family even if it means putting my life on the line. But truth of that statement can only be validated when I am put in a life and death situation. In that moment it is either the love for my family or the love for one’s own self that will determine my action.
1 John 2 v 4-6: 4 Whoever says, I know Him [I perceive, recognize, understand, and am acquainted with Him] but fails to keep and obey His commandments (teachings) is a liar, and the Truth [[c]of the Gospel] is not in him.
5 But he who keeps (treasures) His Word [who bears in mind His precepts, who observes His message in its entirety], truly in him has the love of and for God been perfected (completed, reached maturity). By this we may perceive (know, recognize, and be sure) that we are in Him:
6 Whoever says he abides in Him ought [as [d]a personal debt] to walk and conduct himself in the same way in which He walked and conducted Himself.
If we say we Love God and don’t obey him we are liars, is I think is because every time we don’t obey God it is because we love something more and that is a sin. It could be something as egregiously selfish as self-love or it be something as seemingly noble as loving someone or something more than God. Remember Abraham was blessed because by not withholding his only son Isaac his Love for God proved to be more than how much he loved his son.

What is Love
The Greatest Commandment is about loving God and loving our Neighbour as much as we love ourselves. This therefore means as believers we need to know what love really is. Love is not merely an emotion or a feeling.
1Corinthians 13 4-8: 4 Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily.
5 It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].
6 It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail.
7 Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].
8 Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]. As for prophecy ([d]the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), it will be fulfilled and pass away; as for tongues, they will be destroyed and cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away [it will lose its value and be superseded by truth].

Set your priorities straight
A person who’s renting a house and one living in his own house care for it differently. The renter just wants a place to stay and is not overly concerned about the house in the long-term, whereas the homeowner is. The renter sets his mind on the house his saving for.
Colossians 3 v 1-2: If then you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, thus sharing His resurrection from the dead], aim at and seek the [rich, eternal treasures] that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
2 And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth.
We are in this world but we are not of this world. We are merely sojourners mere passing through. We ought not store our riches on this were moth and rust can destroy. But rather let us set our mind on things in heaven and to our riches there were its safe and protected.

Knowing Him is a blessing
I am a believer of Jesus Christ our Messiah not because I grew up in a Christian dominated country. I am not a Believer because my parents are Christians. I am not a believer because of my intellectual capacity. I believe in Christ because his grace found me, believing is a miracle in itself.
John 15 v 16: You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and I have appointed you [I have planted you], that you might go and bear fruit and keep on bearing, and that your fruit may be lasting [that it may remain, abide], so that whatever you ask the Father in My Name [as [b]presenting all that I Am], He may give it to you.
We are the chosen generation and thus we ought to bear last fruits befitting our repentance. Galatians 5 v 22 talks about the fruits of the Spirit.

God’s love is Unconditional
Love is a scarce basic human need. Like anything else that is scarce we sometimes get out of our way just to find love. Even after we find this love it can be lost if certain expectations are not meet. Customarily giving someone a gift is one of the ways to show affection.
John 3 v 16: “For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.
As you go through your day, know God loves you and you don’t have to get out of your way you have his love already. His love is pure and unconditional even while we were still sinners he loved us. He loves you not because you are smart, beautiful/handsome. He loves you not because of anything you have done, His name is love and so He loves you. It is called grace because you did not earn it, it was just given to you. To show his affection he has given us a gift that keeps on giving in the Name of Jesus we have life.
Thought of the Day: Celebrate today for you have God’s unconditional love and hold on to that life giving gift that is Jesus Christ.
