March Second Week 2020

What is Love

The Greatest Commandment is about loving God and loving our Neighbour as much as we love ourselves. This therefore means as believers we need to know what love really is. Love is not merely an emotion or a feeling.

1Corinthians 13 4-8: Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily.

It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].

It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail.

Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].

Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]. As for prophecy ([d]the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), it will be fulfilled and pass away; as for tongues, they will be destroyed and cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away [it will lose its value and be superseded by truth].

Thought of the Day: Do I really love?

We have a Comforter

Christ came so that we might have life, and have it in its abundance. To fully realise our potential and experience what God has in store for us we need to the Holy Spirit to guide us.

John 16 v 7: However, I am telling you nothing but the truth when I say it is profitable (good, expedient, advantageous) for you that I go away. Because if I do not go away, the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you [into close fellowship with you]; but if I go away, I will send Him to you [to be in close fellowship with you].

Life has ups and downs, to fully live we need to pray for the Holy Spirit’s guidance. In him we find counsel, help, strength and much more. In this information age we get so much information coming at us. That makes choosing who to listen to critical decision. Take time to pray and communicate with the Holy Spirit our comforter.

Thought of the Day: Are you living to your fullest potential?

Set your priorities straight

A person who’s renting a house and one living in his own house care for it differently. The renter just wants a place to stay and is not overly concerned about the house in the long-term, whereas the homeowner is. The renter sets his mind on the house his saving for.

Colossians 3 v 1-2: If then you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, thus sharing His resurrection from the dead], aim at and seek the [rich, eternal treasures] that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth.

We are in this world but we are not of this world. We are merely sojourners mere passing through. We ought not store our riches on this were moth and rust can destroy. But rather let us set our mind on things in heaven and to our riches there were its safe and protected.

Thought of the Day: What matters to you the most?

Tuesday March 10

Knowing Him is a blessing

I am a believer of Jesus Christ our Messiah not because I grew up in a Christian dominated country. I am not a Believer because my parents are Christians. I am not a believer because of my intellectual capacity. I believe in Christ because his grace found me, believing is a miracle in itself.

John 15 v 16: You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and I have appointed you [I have planted you], that you might go and bear fruit and keep on bearing, and that your fruit may be lasting [that it may remain, abide], so that whatever you ask the Father in My Name [as [b]presenting all that I Am], He may give it to you.

We are the chosen generation and thus we ought to bear last fruits befitting our repentance. Galatians 5 v 22 talks about the fruits of the Spirit.

Thought of the Day: The blessing came before the belief

God watches over us always

It’s always good when you know what’s going to happen and how it’s going to happen. A parent feels at ease when they know there is food for their kid to eat tomorrow. We never want to leave anything important to chance. Knowing there is a chance that events my not go our way is the reason we worry.

Genesis 1 v14: 14 And God said, Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be signs and tokens [of God’s provident care], and [to mark] seasons, days, and years

The scripture above is God’s assurance to us that He will always provide for us. Every time we wake up to see the sunrise let us remember that is a guarantee that God will provide for us. Whatever challenge you may be facing rest assured God is watching over.

Thought of the Day: Is there anything too hard for the Lord?
