May 2021 Week 2
Tuesday May 11
Do you care about me?
This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. John 15: 12
I thought I would revisit the idea that we do not really show real love enough in our daily life. I was thinking of the song “Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong which is one of my favorite songs. Part of the lyrics
“I see friends shaking hands
Saying, “How do you do?”
They’re really saying
“I love you”
They are not just saying hello but shaking hands and asking how do you do. In this simple gesture they are showing love. This world is a wonderful place because of the love. I see it reflected in smiles and hand shakes and simple heart filled greetings.
Thought for the day: Count the number of times today that you say I love you through friendly greetings and smiles.

Proverbs 6: 20-22
My son, keep your father’s command
and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.
21 Bind them always on your heart;
fasten them round your neck.
22 When you walk, they will guide you;
when you sleep, they will watch over you;
when you awake, they will speak to you.
I find this verse interesting in this NIV version because it separates the role of a father and mother. The father commands and the child listens and the mother teaches and the child learns. Mothers tend to have a special virtue provided to them by God of patience and the ability to teach. There are varied reasons to explain why there is a greater percentage of female elementary school teachers but one factor is the natural motherly instinct of females when it comes to working with children.
Thought for the day: Thank God for the mothers who are most often the first teachers.
