Sermon On The Mount Part IV Lesson Objective:  To continue the series on the Sermon on Mount as detailed in Matthew Chapters 5-7. Scripture:  Matthew Chapter 7 Introduction Series on teachings by Christ that were primarily teaching how we should live and treat others Chapter 5 began with the beatitudes and how we should live and knowing that blessings are provided to us Chapter 6 Chapter 7 -- How we interact with others Judging others Matthew 7: 1-6 (emphasis verse 5 and 6) Is it ok to judge others? Should we judge others? If so then what is the criteria How do you feel when you are being judged? We must be careful when and how we share judgment – what is the proper mindset. Ask Seek and Knock Matthew 7: 7-9 and Luke 11:9 Ask- prayers Seek—earnestly looking Knock- finding it and asking for permission to partake of it Some interpret as seeking wisdom in how to accomplish the mission The narrow and wide gate Be careful when following the crowd Matthew 7: 13-14 This is the beginning of the summary of the Sermon on the Mount: the application of all that has been taught earlier False Prophets—last warnings Do not merely follow but first inspect Matthew 7: 15-20 True and false disciples- last warnings What do you say or what do you do?
