Fruit of the Spirit Lesson Objective:  To study Fruit of the Spirit and how it relates to other scriptures. Scripture:    But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law  Galatians 5:22-23   Introduction A Tree Known by Its Fruit 33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its Matthew 12:33 How do people know whom we represent? A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you also must love one another. 35By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another John 13: 34-35 Chapter 5 is stating how we should interact with each other To have a spiritually healthy life we must make sure that we eat of the fruit daily. We must understand that all of these components are necessary which is why it it not fruits but a single fruit. All nine intersect and depend on each other Other similar verses 2 Peter 2: 5-7 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love Ephesians 5:9 for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth Ephesians 4: 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Fruit of the Spirit Love 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love is most important 1 Corinthians 13:13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. John 3:16 What is the main theme in the New Testament? Joy and peace May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!Philippians 4:4 Forbearance, Kindness, Goodness I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, 2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love Ephesians 4: 1-2 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience Colossians 3: 12 Ephesians 4:32 "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you." Faithfulness,Gentleness and Self-control “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything. 1 Corinthians 6:12 Whoever guards his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from troubles. Proverbs 21:23 "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28: 19-20
