What is Your Story? Lesson Objective: To understand that we can choose to write our own story or allow others to write our story Scripture: 1 Peter 5:8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. A. Introduction- The power of a story a. 85% of the Bible is stories 10% command 5% poetry i. And there are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they *were written in detail, I suppose that even the world itself *would not contain the books that *would be written. b. There is a reason that Christ told parables B. Stories a. Characters in the story i. Protagonist - 1. You 2. Can be more then one to include family ( Jacob and family) ii. Antagonist 1. John 21:25 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour 2. Things that serve as impediments to spiritual well being a. i.e drugs b. lust c. greed iii. Supporting Characters 1. Friends (How do we use our friends) 2. Family 3. Mentors b. What makes a good story i. A character that you can relate to ii. Experiences that you can relate to iii. Changes in the character c. Parts of a story Usually 3 Acts i. The beginning which we have no control ii. Challenges and experiences we incur 1. Some are because of circumstances 2. Some we cause because of our decisions iii. The ending which reflects our character traits 1. We get to write the ending 2. The ending is rewritten every day ( New Year) C. Summary a. You get to write your story b. Identify three statements that will conclude your story at the end of 2023 c. Please identify in quantifiable terms
