"A Year of Grace and Growth"
"A Year of Grace and Growth" Lesson Objective: To help us recognize how God’s grace has been evident in their lives over the past year and to inspire a commitment to continued spiritual growth. Primary Scripture: 2 Peter 3:18 "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen." ________________________________________ Introduction: 1. Personal Reflection: God’s grace in my life o Opportunity to do what I enjoy o Wife who continually shows her love o Church family that blesses me each day 2. God’s Grace as the Foundation: o Define grace: God’s unearned favor and kindness. o Explain how grace is central to both our salvation and sanctification. distinguish between salvation and sanctification ________________________________________ Main Points: 1. The Grace of God in Our Lives o What is grace? Grace brings salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9) and empowers us to live for God. o How has grace been evident this year? o Scripture Reference: 2 Corinthians 12:9 "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." 2. The Growth God Desires o Spiritual growth is the evidence of grace working in our lives. o How do we grow? Through prayer, scripture study, serving others, and trusting God in trials. o Scripture Reference: James 1:2-4 Trials produce perseverance and maturity in faith. o Encourage each of us to reflect on our spiritual growth this year and the coming year. 3. God’s Patience in Our Growth o God does not demand instant perfection but lovingly guides us. o Scripture Reference: Philippians 1:6 "He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion." o Share examples of biblical characters (e.g., Peter, Paul) who grew over time. ________________________________________ Application: 1. Reflect on Personal Growth: o Encourage the congregation to consider: How has my relationship with God deepened this year? What areas of my life still need growth? 2. Set Spiritual Goals for the New Year: o Challenge each person to identify one way they will grow in grace and knowledge (e.g., commit to regular Bible reading, join a small group, or practice forgiveness). 3. Lean on God’s Grace Daily: o Remind the congregation that grace is both the starting point and the sustainer of spiritual growth. ________________________________________ Conclusion: • Reflect on the year as a testimony of God’s grace and an opportunity for growth. • End with a prayer of gratitude for God’s past work and faith for continued growth in the coming year.
