Revelation Part 3

Rev Part 3 The Throne Room of Heaven – Worship and the Lamb Lesson Objective: By the end of this sermon, the congregation should: 1. Understand the majesty and holiness of God as revealed in Revelation 4-5. 2. Recognize that true worship is centered on God’s sovereignty and the Lamb’s sacrifice. 3. Be encouraged to live a life of worship, surrender, and anticipation of Christ’s ultimate victory. ________________________________________ Sermon Outline Introduction Many people think of heaven as a peaceful place, but Revelation 4-5 gives us a vision of God’s throne and Jesus’ victory—it is majestic, overwhelming, and full of worship. ________________________________________ I. The Throne Room of God (Revelation 4) – The Majesty of God 1. John’s Invitation to Heaven (Revelation 4:1-2) • Key Verse: "Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this." (Revelation 4:1) • Application: God invites us to see the world from His perspective, beyond our daily struggles. 2. The Description of God’s Throne (Revelation 4:3-6) • Surrounded by a rainbow – Symbol of mercy and covenant (Genesis 9:13). • Flashes of lightning and thunder – God’s power and judgment (Exodus 19:16). • Sea of glass – Symbol of purity and holiness. • Application: Do we truly revere God’s holiness, or do we take Him lightly? 3. The Worship of the Four Living Creatures (Revelation 4:6-8) • "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty!" • Parallels: Isaiah 6:1-4 – Angels also cry, "Holy, holy, holy!" • Application: Worship in heaven is constant and passionate—is our worship the same? 4. The 24 Elders Worship (Revelation 4:9-11) • They fall before God and cast their crowns. • Why? Because He is worthy of all glory, honor, and power. • Application: Are we willing to lay down everything before God in worship? ________________________________________ II. The Scroll and the Lamb (Revelation 5) – The Worthiness of Christ 1. The Sealed Scroll (Revelation 5:1-4) • The scroll represents God's plan for judgment and redemption. • No one was worthy to open it—John weeps because God’s justice and redemption seem out of reach. • Application: Have we ever felt like God’s plan is delayed or that the world is out of control? 2. The Lion Who is the Lamb (Revelation 5:5-7) • "Behold, the Lion of Judah... has conquered!" • John turns and sees not a lion, but a slain Lamb. • Jesus is victorious, not through power, but through sacrifice. • Parallel: Isaiah 53:7 – "He was led like a lamb to the slaughter." • Application: Do we trust in Jesus' victory even when it looks different than we expect? 3. The Worship of the Lamb (Revelation 5:8-14) • Angels, elders, and all creation join in worship. • Key Verse: "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!" (Revelation 5:12) • Application: Do we live our lives reflecting the worthiness of Jesus? ________________________________________ III. Living a Life of Worship 1. True worship is about God’s worth, not our feelings. 2. Worship is both in heaven and on earth—how do we prepare for eternal worship? 3. Jesus is worthy of our whole lives—are we surrendering everything to Him? ________________________________________ Conclusion & Call to Action • Three key takeaways: 1. God is holy and sovereign—He deserves our reverence. 2. Jesus is the only one worthy—He is both the Lion and the Lamb. 3. Worship is not just a Sunday event—it’s a lifestyle. • Call to worship: o Worship is not about music; it is about surrender. o Prayer of commitment: "Lord, help us to see Your holiness, trust in Jesus' victory, and live lives that reflect true worship."
