Short Study of Book of John Part 5

Short Study Of The Book Of John Part 5 Lesson Objective: To continue to review the Book of John by highlighting those verses that reflect Christ as the Saviour. Scripture: John Chapters 11-12 Chapter 11---- Story of Lazarus Really understand that there is a reason for everything and that God’s will prevails. John 11:4 When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby. John 11: 14-15  Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead. 15 And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him. They still did not understand really who Christ was 22 But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask.” 23 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” 24 Martha answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” 27 “Yes, Lord,” she replied, “I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.” Isaiah 26: 19; Job 19:25-26 and Daniel 12:2 is thought to teach resurrection The beginning of the end- 48 If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and then the Romans will come and take away both our temple and our nation.” 49 Then one of them, named Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, spoke up, “You know nothing at all! 50 You do not realize that it is better for you that one man die for the people than that the whole nation perish.” Chapter 12- Verses 1-11 Christ with Mary, Martha and Lazarus Mary annoints his body Judas complains Verses 12-19 Palm Sunday Christ is cheered because of the resurrection of Lazarus Verses 20-36 Christ foretells his death 23 Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. 24 Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds Verses 37-50 Some believe and others did not Even after Jesus had performed so many signs in their presence, they still would not believe in him Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not openly acknowledge their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue; 43 for they loved human praise more than praise from God.
