Violence of Faith

TITLE: THE VIOLENCE OF FAITH Objective: - To expound on the violence of faith in God. - To show us how to apply it in our lives for all-round victory. Scriptures Matthew 11:12 NKJV: And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force. NIV: From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been subjected to violence, and violent people have been raiding it. AMP: From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violent assault, and violent men seize it by force [as a precious prize]. INTRODUCTION Mark 16:19-20 12 Then Joshua spoke to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon; And Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.” 13 So the sun stood still, And the moon stopped, Till the people had revenge upon their enemies. Is this not written in the Book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day. 14 And there has been no day like that, before it or after it, that the Lord heeded the voice of a man; for the Lord fought for Israel. - That’s the most unusual prayer “unto the Lord” - More of a command or decree than a plea OUR NECESSARY ACTIONS OF FAITH 1) Speak boldly as “faith” instructs you Mark 11:22-23 22 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 2) Pray with high expectation, not merely as a ritual 1 Kings 18:43 43 and said to his servant, “Go up now, look toward the sea.” So he went up and looked, and said, “There is nothing.” And seven times he said, “Go again.” 44 Then it came to pass the seventh time, that he said, “There is a cloud, as small as a man’s hand, rising out of the sea!” So he said, “Go up, say to Ahab, [j]‘Prepare your chariot, and go down before the rain stops you.’ ” 3) Place a demand on the unction or promise of God. Do not wait for the unction to come to you. Mark 5:27-43 27 When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. 28 For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.” 29 Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction. 30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My clothes?” 4) Actively enforce the will or word of God in your life. Resist the devil and anything else contrary to His plan, will or purpose James 4:7 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. SUMMARY - Little can be achieved in the kingdom by a carefree, relaxed attitude. - Living faith in the heart of a believer inspires commensurate action that is moves us out of the comfort zone. - The faith that produces results is a verb, not a noun. - It is a "doing" faith. - It is not merely waiting for God to stir the waters. - But it stirs God to manifest in our situation.
