What to do When the Creek is Rising

What to do When the Creek is Rising

What to do when the creek is rising? Lesson Objective:   To identify reasons why we should not worry when trouble seems to be all around us. Pesonnal Objectives:  Identify 5 reasons  why we should not worry when everyone else says that we should. Scripture:  Psalms 37 Growing up I often heard and used the term “ if God is willing and the creek don’t rise” .  Hindsight being 20--20, this makes no sense as it implies that God does not control the  creek. If God is in control then why worry? Do not worry.. do not fret: (some consider It a sin to worry) Psalms 37: 1 Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; Psalms 27: 7b and 8 do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil Trust in the Lord Psalms37: 3-4 Trust in the Lord and do good;  dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. 4 Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalms 37: 7a Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; God Cares 1 Peter 5:6-7 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. Psalms 55: 22 Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved Be courageous Psalms 37: 23-24 The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him;24 though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand Psalms 31: 24 Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart, All you who hope in the Lord Psalms 27: 14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord Joshua 1: 9  Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. God never will forsake us Psalms 37: 25 I was young and now I am old,yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. Psalms 37: 28 For the Lord loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. Hebrews 13: 5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”   FEAR is false evidence appearing real :   Mark Matteson                  .
