  • Message: “Your Identity in Christ” from Minister Blessing

IDENTITY IN CHRIST Many Christians have so many unanswered questions about God and their faith in Christ. If you say you believe in something but don’t act your faith, then you are living a lie. Find a meaning in your life. Life has become so uncertain and unstable to people because of what they have seen and what they have heard. They move from side to side, they don’t know what to think and where to turn. Some say life is not fair. But when you are connected to God, Holy Spirit brings stability to your life, you become unshakable. God made us for his pleasure, he gave us a mind so that we can at least think and be glade about what He has done. Can you imagine that? Genesis1:25-26 (5th day); God made all sorts of wild animals, livestock, and small animals, each able to reproduce more of its own kind. And God saw that it was good. (6th day); Then God said, “Let us make man.....) (Genesis 2:2 On the 7th day, having finished his task, God rested from all his work). So if we can then use what God gave us to use it against him or to blame him don’t you think we will be making a fatal mistake? Asking God about what you shall be, your purpose, and why things are like the way they are in your life. You think God doesn’t have the answers for that? So this should mean one thing that, if God made us for his pleasure then he expects us to be happy, so that we can be able to make him happy too. So its our duty to live a happy life and to make our Creator happy. But some people think they don’t need to be happy, they think if they are happy then some people will bully them or mistreat them. Thats because they don’t know who they are in Christ. How do we make God happy? If we meet his expectations, and meet what he wanted us to be then he will be happy, fulfilled and pleased. But sometimes people can be happy about the wrong things. But how miserable can it be if we ourselves who are trying to make others happy are unhappy? If you are frustrated, are you going to make others frustrated too? Living a happy life is one top purpose to fulfill. There are two possible courses of life; 1. Natural course of life 2. Life as a Child of God. Worldly circumstances determine some people’s destiny. Their life is controlled by what is around them. Their state of life is defined by the family or place in which they were born in. They look down upon themselves. They are hopeless. They blame other people for not helping them when they are in trouble. We don’t have the privilege to choose who should be our parents or relatives. Thats being born by the will of human flesh. 1 Peter 2:9 New King James Version (NKJV) 9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; God puts the right people at the right place to assist you only if you walk through the right way. Eg (Exodus 2:9 “Take this child home and nurse him for me,” the princess told her. “I will pay you for your help.” So the baby’s mother took her baby home and nursed him.) Life as a Child of God. John 1:13 King James Version (KJV) 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. 2 Corinthians 5:17 King James Version (KJV) 17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold(/see), all things are become new. James 1:18 Of His own will he gave birth to us by the word of truth so that we become first fruits. This doesn’t need you to have a feeling about it, its a fact. 2 Peter 1:3-4 New King James Version (NKJV) 3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the [a]corruption that is in the world through lust. The same water that drowned others is the same water that kept Noah’s arch afloat, higher and higher. What is chaos to others, it will be a walk through for you. Same water that softens the potato, it hardens the egg. Ephesians 4:21-23 King James Version (KJV) 21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; Truth becomes natural to you. Its not difficult for a fish to swim, because its born in water and it lives in water. When you are born in Christ, then life in Christ becomes easy. 1 John 3:9 New International Version (NIV) 9 No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God Acts 10:43 King James Version (KJV) 43 ............through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. Your identity is not to live in fear.(Psalms 23 says i fear no evil). because you know God is already there. Your life is not determined/defined by the circumstances of the world. Family issues or economic hardships doesn’t define who you are. You are who God said you are. In Christ you are in your own special atmosphere. People might see you as if you are not going anywhere, but because you know who you are, your faith is not moved. 1 Corinthians 10:13 New Living Translation (NLT) 13 The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure Action and reaction acts in opposite direction. Just like breathing, the same amount of air you inhale is the same amount you exhale. Straight roads don’t make good drivers. The more hardships you face the better superior you become to tackle future adversaries. The challenge may not go away when you pray, and when it doesn’t go away, it simply means God believes that he has trained you enough to face it and win. Matthew 3:17 English Standard Version (ESV) 17 and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son,[a] with whom I am well pleased.” Matthew 4:3 King James Version (KJV) 3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. You might be asking yourself, So if i am a Child of God then why is this happening to me, or why am i going through all this? You must know that it is Satan’s job to question your faith, but you have to know God’s word and keep Satan where he belongs. How do you respond to God when you are in trouble? Genesis 25:29-34 Esau was hungry and he sold his birth right to Jacob. Judges 16 Because Samson was in love he sold away his power. Stand strong and tell the devil that even if he throws his best shots on you, you will still remain firm and unshakable. • Message: “Remain in Jesus” from Elder Jacquie

JOHN 15:1-17 “REMAIN IN JESUS” Key verse: John 15:5 / Philippians 4:13/1cor 13:1-13/Isaiah 61 Objective: “A reminder that it’s all about JESUS, not me, you or us”. TO ABIDE IS: TO LOVE (to endure without yielding/ to bear patiently = Dict.) Verse 9-10/17 - Love God and Love others (Matthew 22:36-40) - To do all things with love (1 Cor 13: 1-13 / 1cor 16:14) TO OBEY: Verse 10/15-16 - A byproduct of Love (1 Samuel 15:22 / John 14:15) -To accept without objection= Dict. - Without questions (Isaiah 55:8), without seeing (Hebrew 11:1)   BUT We can’t obey what we don’t know. (Hosea 4:6) We can’t know what we need to know if we aren’t in Him (verse 15) We can’t abide because we are distracted. Our focus are somewhere else (Matthew 14:29) (1 Cor 10:23)(Psalm 121:1) TO BE (verse 2/3) = PRUNED: cleanse by God’s words (Ephesians 5:25-26) - His words will confront our deepest thoughts and fight the lies in us. (Hebrews 4:12) - His words will expose our Obedience or disobedience. (James 1:22-24) as a mirror - His words will war with our flesh (Galatians 5:17) (Ephesians 6:17) His words sets us free (James 1:25) - REWARD: Verse 16: God’s promise of “Fruit that lasts/ Galatians 5:22/ ”. John 3:16 SO WHAT: “Let’s make it personal today. “ (Isaiah 61) (Verse 16 (He ordained us)) Am I truly abiding in Christ? Am I still there?   OR am I a branch that is getting “deader and deader” waiting to dry off and drop but yet appearing alive?

Why Is This So Hard To Say Lesson Objective: To look at why asking and forgiving is so hard to do for us as Christians.his is an area where we can do some self evauation as we discussed last week. Scripture:  Matthew 18: 21-35; Review of the parable of the Unforgiving Servant.  A  This is the middle of three discussions by Christ on the broad subject of forgiveness.  1) disagreement between two Christians  Matthew 18: 15-20 2) parable of unforgiving servant Matthew 18: 21-35 3) divorce Matthew 19: 1-10 B.  Detailed discussion of the parable 1. Verses 23-25  A man was bought before the master because he owed money and did not have the money to repay. a. Does not say that he had done anything wrong but could not pay b.  Master ordered that he and his fanily be sold into bondage for payment 2. Verses 26-27  Man asked for mercy and patience so that he would have time to pay the debt a.  Man said he wanted time to pay the debt b.  Master did more than what was asked but  also forgave debt. 3.Verses 28-30 Man found someone who  owed him money and that person asked for mercy and patience a.  Actually owed far less money but he denied him mercy b. Had him to be put into jail in a situation where he could not repay him 4.  Verses 31-35  Man was reported to the master and was put in jailed and tortured a.  If we want mercy and forgiveness we must also be willing to forgive b. Special attention  “from the heart” C.            Why is it difficut  to say  “Please forgive me” 1. One of the main reasons is umwillingness  to accept responsibiilty  for our actions Genesis 3:12;  3:13; 2. Another reason is pride  Proverbs 11:2  13:10   Saying that I am sorry even when you  do not think you did not do anything wrong is ok.  Shows humility D. Why is it difficult to say I forgive and truly mean it from the heart 1, We are taught to get even at an early age-  eye for an eye 2.  Christ taught something different Matthew 5: 38-39 E. How do we find a way to say Forgive me and to forgive? 1.  The only way is thru true love 2. Love is patient and kind 1 Corinthians 13:4 3. Love does not dishonor or hurt others 1 Corinthians 13:5 F. Love is the rule of thumb for all Christians..   John 13:34 Ephesians 4:32 Colossians 3:13 Points to ponder: Why it sometimes happens that after asking forgiveness to each other it might happen that sometimes the relationship with the friend, brother is not the same anymore? Or you think you have forgiven each other but the relationship is not as good as it used to be? Can we forgive and forget? What happened if you think you have forgiven someone but you still feel the wound of the hurt when you see the person. Does it mean you didn’t really forgive them? How to know that you have really forgiven each other? Is there any sign, feeling or whatever it might be proving or testifying that you have forgiven each other?
